Blitzen: The Lightning-Fast Reindeer Who Never Learned the Meaning of ‘Slow Down’

If energy could be bottled, it would look like Blitzen. As a fawn he zipped around the barn so quickly that elves reported “a brown blur with hooves.” He once ran an entire lap around the North Pole village before the cookie timer dinged.

During one stormy night, a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky—and Blitzen zoomed past it. Santa laughed so hard he nearly spilled his cocoa. “He’s faster than lightning! Blitzen!” he declared.

Does Blitzen rest? Technically yes, but nobody has ever witnessed it. He brings unbeatable power to Santa’s sleigh and enough enthusiasm to keep the team awake until New Year’s.
