Pride Flag of Boise

Let me start by saying that I do not have any hatred or malice toward the  LGBTQIA+ movement. I tend to be a live and let live sort of person.

There has been an ongoing controversy about the city of Boise flying a Pride flag at the city hall along with the governmental flags. The state legislature just made it illegal for them to do so in their last legislative session.

The mayor of Boise refused to remove the Pride flag and under pressure from the state to remove it or face (unknown) consequences, the mayor is considering making the Pride flag the official Boise city flag.

I do not feel it is right to designate the Pride flag as the Boise City flag. No matter what my beliefs are, it is discrimination to have our city flag represent only one segment of our population. Furthermore, it should not fly along with the other governmental flags, unless you a flag is flown for every other ethnic or special interest group that exists in Boise.

If my church had a flag and we asked to fly it at the courthouse, we would be turned down because we only represent a portion of the community and it might be offensive to other groups to fly a Christian flag. The same is true of the Pride flag. It does not represent the entire population and it is offensive to some people who have different beliefs.

I want to make my dissension known and hope that others do too.
